It seems I've let the blog die down for a bit. But sometimes you've got to take a break from things. I think I've had a good break and am ready to show some blog love. Plus, this cutie was too handsome to keep to myself... When we first got started, we placed him in a spot where the sun barely capped his head. It looked like he had a halo on top of a huge noggin. And his hair is extremely blond so that made him look like his head was glowing. Mom and Dad got a huge laugh out of it!

Mom has already seen these, but I wanted to share a few since I haven't posted any of my sessions lately. We went to the golf course at a country club and had a great time, as you can see. Mom blew bubbles and Taite chased them around. It was terribly hot, but that didn't stop him one bit. He even got to ride on my old rusty Radio Flyer tricycle.

This is another sneak peak at the Prince session. Miss Prince and Mr. Prince were too funny and I think my favorite part was seeing them push each other out of the way so they could sit on my red chair and wooden crate. LOL Kids seem to get excited over those things. Needless to say, it was a great session and I think they all did a great job. And mom was simply beautiful with her glowing belly!

Mommy and Me - Nessa and Bradley

I just had the opportunity to work with Bradly this past Christmas and was so happy to work with him again for our upcoming "Mommy and Me" series. You'd never know from these images that this kid wouldn't be still! But I was able to get some shots of him goofing off - told him his mom was going to save them and show them off to his girlfriends when he gets older.

AND, I told his mom today that she has THE BEST skin I've noticed on any of my clients! I'm jealous - lol.

This beautiful little girl just happens to be my daughter's very first friend. They spent several weeks together in the NICU when they were both born early (Madie, below, was born at 24 weeks while my daughter was born at 28). Of course when you spend that kind of time with people who are going through what you are experiencing, you form a bond. I am blessed to know Madie's parents because they are such wonderful and kind people. And I was so happy when her mom asked me to schedule them for an Anniversary session for their dad - he's a Marine and he was at drill when we had the session, so it was a surprise! I got to meet Madie's little brother and sister! They were SO much fun, but it was hard work keeping up with these three! We had such a great time. I can't wait to see them again!

Just when I started getting busy and training my assistant... those computer problems that I was having around the holidays finally caught up with me. I had two viruses and had to do without my computer for a while. We actually sent two in two get fixed. I felt lost (LOL). Luckily, I remembered that someone I used to work with has their own business and I tracked them down on the weekend. I trusted that he would take care of them, rather than getting treated like just another client with a broken computer. Of course, I was very pleased when I got them back and was able to get back to work on my sessions.

The next couple of weeks are going to be busy busy. There is work to be done on the site and the blog... and I get to sit down with some one-on-one time with my assistant and show her the ropes. We've had a couple of meetings but most of our work has been done online and via email and phone. She is going above and beyond and I'm please to have her. Can't wait to introduce her!

Now that I've got a little rant and rave over with....

Here is a cute little man that I had the pleasure of working with last week! 5 kids in one day was great!

Taylor was absolutely hilarious. As you can see, he is very photogenic. And he is also funny. He was cracking jokes and making faces during his session. I love working with kids and teenagers who make me laugh. It makes what I do that much more fun!!!!!!

When we were done, we had lunch as Zaxby's because he said he had never eaten there before and we LOVE chicken fingers! YUM!

My latest session was perfect! A brother and sister in a field of beautiful green grass. We had to stop because we ran out of light and I'm a natural light kinda girl! Still, we had lots of fun.

No, I am not usually up at this time of the night. But I was thinking about Mother's Day and how much it means to me. There is nothing that can replace the warm fuzzies you get when someone is in trouble for not picking up their toys, yet they look at you with beautiful blue eyes and say "I love you, Mommy!" Everything is green, including an amazing red velvet chair - and that's ok. It makes our lives more exciting. You have to kiss every bobo. Waking up on Saturday and Sunday mornings to cook breakfast is something that is never missed...

Every day is Mother's Day and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I take FULL CREDIT for these two ever meeting in the first place.

Me and Jess met several years ago and never had a lot of "bonding" time until we got stuck together during Katrina. That probably marked the actual beginning of our friendship... and I can never forget how much she was there for me and my daughter during my pregnancy and D's NICU stay.

Marion and I met when we were both working in Law Enforcement (he is a police officer in a local city). We all three have gone through a lot over the course of knowing one another and have grown closer as friends. I would have never "pictured" these two together, but they are absolutely perfect for one another!

{Quick update}

Since things are beginning to get a little better I thought it was time for a much-needed update...
First, I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It has meant so much to us and is deeply appreciated.

Second, there have been many changes and I can't wait to get them going. Soon there will be a new site and blog and both will include explanations! Right now we are waiting on some equipment repairs and updates which will hopefully be completed late today. The new site will include new prices, policies and information. The blog will stay updated regularly. I can't say for sure what will be considered "regular" as of yet. The most exciting news is that we have studio space! There is tons of work still being done and I can't even give an estimate of when it will be complete. Jessica is also going to be returning and I am pleased to introduce everyone to her! She'll get a proper introduction when the site is updated!

Finally, I'll get to the orders. Thanks to everyone for their patience. It has been very hectic and I had to take a break from sessions just to get caught up! For anyone who has placed an order: I am waiting on ink and mailing supplies to arrive and will be putting the orders out as soon as I get them. You will receive notification when your order is on its way. If I have not notified you already, you'll get a little something extra for your understanding!

One more thing. It keeps happening and I don't know how many other ways to explain this... NO OTHER CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED ON ANY SESSIONS OR AT WEDDINGS WHILE I AM PHOTOGRAPHING! I will be including a stricter policy in my contract and enforcing it in the future. But let me stress to you the importance of this policy. First and foremost this can interfer with the overall quality of your photographs. Overexposure is not a pleasant thing and does NOT accent your pictures in any way! Another reason is time. It takes up additional time to everyone involved - children especially get very impatient and tired of being asked to stand still for one more moment. This extra time can also limit the number of images that I am able to provide when it is time for your proofing session. Please keep all of these things in mind when it is time for your session.

{Feels Like Home to Me...}

This is my initials that I carved on a tree that has been in front of my grandparents' house for as long as I can remember. I was probably a teenager when I did it, and felt like I was leaving my mark on something.

One of my favorite artists is Chantal Kreviazuk. Many people that I talk to don't know who she is. Mostly Chantal's music has been featured on the soundtracks of many movies. She has one that is my favorite: Feels Like Home. You can read the lyrics HERE if you'd like.

I feel that I can relate to this song because nothing has ever felt like home to me the way that HOME has felt...make sense? Since moving back to my hometown of Pelahatchie, I have been a little late responding to things and there are a few other complications that have prevented me from doing other things as well. But I am in the process of working on an outdoor studio area and have found lots of places around town that will be great for portraits. The website will be updated soon as well. HOORAY!

Is it possible to capture REAL BEAUTY? Can it be seen through the lense? I believe so. Ok ok, I know I'm slacking on my blog here. Let's start over fresh. I ended up taking an "early" maternity leave and on January 25, Delaney Grace was born 12 weeks premature. She has been through a lot and is a strong little girl. This image is one of my favorites of her. She no longer has the canula to help her breathe and she came off of her feeding tube yesterday.

The new site should be up and running this weekend. Tell me what your idea of "Real Beauty" is in an image. Is it a horse in an open field? How about a prom queen in her tiara and gown? This is Brandt. He was probably one of my favorite subjects that I have photographed.

Both he and his mother enjoyed the session and Brandt was super easy to work with. He just had a birthday last week. So HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY BRANDT! I am happy to say that I will be photographing him at least two more times this year!
